Correct AdSense placement enforcement: No ads below blog title allowed

We all know that Google AdSense ads placement below a post title just above the post content is one of a heat spot. At least that was what Google documented before. There is guidelines months ago that suggesting putting ads below post title is a no-no as it could implies the ads as not ads . The guidelines clearly stating "ads shouldn’t be placed under a title or section heading in a way that implies that the ads are not ads ". It seem now Google team try to enforce the guidelines, one blogger was contacted to follow this guideline.

Quickonlinetips was contacted by Google about the Adsense placement below post title, and as a result quickonlinetips now put "Advertisement" word above the adsense ads that placed below the post title.

Do I need to follow putting advertisement word above the ads ?. Currently I'm preparing for it, however I think my Adsense ads that placed below the post title is slightly different ( as the guidelines shown ). Mine were formated in banner style instead of square and it is quite distinguishable from the post content. Lets see, I'm working on it to fulfill Google guidelines requirements.

The setup allows all adsene setup items, including ad type, position, channel and colors plus the frequency of ads and post length that you wish ads to show.

Up to now, you need to inform Adsense team your Feedburner account to get your feeds account in Adsense for feeds, no self service available yet. If you dont have feedburner account, you can create new feed and get the ads displayed.

One thing I currently wondering is the licenses of images searched by Scribefire. I did my Flickr search image through 'advance' option in Flickr website to get Creative Common Attribution Licensed images to be used for my blog posts. Does Scribefire Flickr search result are Creative Common licensed images ?. Yes, I can check the license of the images on the Flickr website, but that wouldn't great as Scribefire is a blog tool thats boast 'easy blogging'.

I believe folks at Scribefire are keep on developing Scribefire, and I do hope new features to come. The developer team is working hard to make sure everything is done properly and bugs are fixed.

How to flag a blog with a hidden navbar ?

Although it is legal to hide the blogger navbar, there is a drawback caused by this. It is difficult for a user to flag a blogger blog that are found as splogs or against Google TOS.

If found the navbar is hidden and you want to flag to that blog do the following steps :

  1. Find the "blogID" in the blog html code ( you can view the source of a blog with your browser)
  2. Note the number after the = (sample "blogID=12345678"), 12345678 is the blogID
  3. Now open the blogger navbar with the blogID number you find above, http://www2.blogger.com/navbar.g?blogID=12345678
, replace 12345678 with the actual blogID
  4. When the navbar appears, click the flag button.

Mobile blogging, threat for mainstream media?

A blogger was kicked out from a stadium because he was posting live updates of the U.S's NCAA baseball tournament. It is said, this guy activities on blogging a live updates of the game infringe the broadcasting rights which were exclusively owned by ESPN and CBS . It just unbelievable.

Citizen Journalism
Blogging is believed brought such a tremendous inevitable changes on journalism, citizen journalism and community journalism were born. Such technology are now available to support the mobile blogging. Now you can found tons videos report through Youtube, there are also gadgets such as cell phone for mobile blogging that fully support citizen journalism.

Citizen journalism is just gaining its own inevitable popularity, are they threatening mainstream media?. I saw a sheer limitation on what citizen journalists can and can't do.These days, the public decides who gets publicity, not the media.

In the future, you might be prohibited to bring your phone or digital camera to a tournament because it may violate exclusive broadcasting rights of a media. What a life.

Why you should not live by the Google ?

What will you do to get incoming traffic to your blog ?.
Do SEO and get indexed and crawled by Google.

Bloggers are trying hard to generate more traffic to their blog with various traffic generation methods, SEO, link building popularity and more. All of this efforts was done with one mission, generating incoming traffic, getting visitors and readers.

Generating traffic from search engine results is the most important thing bloggers will do, but if you are overdoing it, it is likely you will put yourself in to Google penalty box. You will lose your search engine ranking. Yes, Google is unpredictable, once said "the search-quality team makes about a half-dozen major and minor changes a week to the vast nest of mathematical formulas that power the search engine". Google concern is quality search. Don't play fire with Google, sooner or later you are going to get burn.

At least that was what happened with Jhon Chow recently when he was pushing it all to the limit, he lose his search engine ranking. It was happened my times, and I saw it many times by myself. 'make money online' search result was not always pointing to John's blog, it was floating around. John Chow is in the Google penalty box and is hoping Google will restore his page ranking soon.

There are few thing we don't know about Google and Google team is very clever, they are acting immediately when they found something is beyond the normal.

When you are stepping out way too far, and When you are on the top, it is likely a lot of people would jealous on you. Yes at least there are another threat you should aware of in term of search engine power. The Negative SEO , as Philipp Lenssen pointed out that your competitor could do harm to your search engine page ranking. Someone is posting a lot of spam-like links all around the web links to your blog or site, links back is jumping in short period, hence, they make you look naughty in front of Google.

Still thinking play with SEO is always safe ?, yes Google penalty box might be rarely happens if you do things right, but the latter, the competitor negative SEO attack, it is uncontrollable aspect.

As John Chow said 'Live by the Google,Die By The Google'.

Am'I really meant to making money online ?

Reading other bloggers earning reports, I have to admit it was jaws dropping. Regardless, their earning is verifiable or not, it does develop awe amongst newbies or six-figures earner wannabe, including me.

First thing came to my mind at the time was a question, "Do they really earn that much ?". Then goes to, "How they really make it happen ?". Then I started to search the Internet for further information on this 'making money online' scheme. The findings was awesome. These guys are full time blogger who are really dedicating their time for blogging. They are good writers where a bunch of keywords are in each of their posts for search engine finding. They are always found things to write, information to share and ideas to develop.

It then dragged me to SEO, Adsense, SERP, CPC, CPA, RPU, Affiliate Marketing and any others terms I have to deal with for making money online. I have this blog, I don't have my own domain and hosting yet, but I saw there are many blogspot.com bloggers out there are great online money-makers too. So based on 'enough bullshitting too much' guide, I decided to use this blog for passive income source as many others blogger do. I don't think it is too late to get into this game, better late than nothing.

Apart from my attempt to make money online through this blog, I have my own side goals. I want to improve my English and my writing skill. Why I put those side target ?, yup, because my English is poor, considering English is not my native language, neither second language. It is a foreign language for us in Bali. My writing skill haven't improve lately, then now is a chance. My main goal is to earn money so I can afford my own domain and hosting and to pay my dial-up home internet connection.

For achieving these goals, I have done some SEO efforts for traffic generation, more intensive blogwalking and information finding. Believe me, I put all things purely based on search engine, there are no black SEO at all. I haven't use Adwords for generating traffic to this blog. I don't have enough money for Adwords deposit, just yet. I'm still learning on how to attract more visitor to this blog, the fact is the content is the one which could attract. Content means writing, good content means good writing, and that's I'm trying to do, by trying hard to constantly post every day.

Many grammar pop outs might be easily found on my posts, and my fellow readers did mention it and I thank you if you could help me to improve my English. Any suggestions are welcome to improve this blog.

So do you think I'm really meant to making money online ?

Increase search engine page rangking. What you can do with your old blog posts ?

As you may be aware, that Google is monitoring over time how often you update your pages and add content to it. Google is monitoring the stability of site update as one factor for search engine page ranking. In order to update the content of your blog, all you have to do is to post, and post again.

Perhaps, when it comes for the time where you have no ideas what to write for your next blog post, you are trying hard to find topic for it. In your head, it's about maintaining better position and increase search engine page ranking for your blog.

This morning I came across to Blogherald.com for an article by Lorelle Van Fossen about tips to update and revitalize old blog posts to increase search engine page rank. It got me thinking about the possibility to revisit my old blog posts and rewrite it.

When you have no idea for a new blog post, rewriting the old blog post become a good solution. It doesn't mean that you just pull them and post it as is. What you can do is by making a new title that is more proper for current situation, fix and update information on it, some factual information at that time maybe not factual enough at present, fix the typos and more. Updating some links and remove the dead links, you know that Google is also hates dead links, so is your readers.

It is also mentioned, that giving a new perspective to the old posts and rewrite it with more better search terms keywords play in helping your blog got found by the search engine. Which is mean, traffic, and search engine page ranking.

Blogger.com in Bahasa Indonesia
Why this is so important for Indonesian ?, it is because English is foreign language in Indonesia, it's not like Malaysia,Singapore and Philippine where English is for second language. In other addition, it is believed that there a big numbers of requests or hopes that adsense would be applicable for blogs in Bahasa Indonesia. Well, Google is deliverer, lets wait and see.
